I am always amazed at the beautiful submissions we receive daily at Seniorologie!  I even more amazed when the person submitting the images is only 15 years old!  I think it is amazing that someone at such a young age already knows exactly what they want to do and photography is helping them reach their dreams!

Sarah Owens of Sarah Delanie Photography says that she sees girls all around her that struggle with insecurities and self doubt.  “I strive to open their eyes to the fact that they are each unique and beautiful in their own way!” says Sarah.

Sarah’s slogan and life motto is {Redefine Beauty One Portrait At A Time}.  What a great way to look at photography!  We should all try to live by this statement as photographers!

“We are the eyes of this world and people, especially teenage girls, need to see that they are truly beautiful just the way they are.  If you, as a photographer, can make one girl feel like the prettiest girl in the world, you have done your job!”

Below is a beautiful session by Sarah that definitely shows the beauty of this senior.  Read below for Sarah’s comments about this particular session and check out more of Sarah’s work here.  Thanks for sharing Sarah!

What was your inspiration for the photo shoot? This senior shoot was with my good friend Kimmy, we calibrated and stylized her shoot to fit her personality. She is an old fashion girl, with a love for style. We strived to attain an editorial feel with her shoot with dashes of vintage within.
Where did this photo shoot take place? In a lovely park near my house & Downtown Fort Worth {interesting mix i know}
What camera, lens and equipment were used for this shoot? I used my canon 5d mark ii with my 50mm 1.4 & my super cute Shoot Sac. LOVE!
What time of day were these taken? evening time! I love how golden & crisp light is right when the sun goes down, its illuminates special moments that melt my heart.
Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session? I can honestly say I am a huge “In camera editing” fan, I love raw real moments, I want to show the client that they are naturally beautiful just the way they are. That is what truly takes there breath away, that moment when they realize, they are beautiful. I love to slightly over expose to naturally clear up skin & bring up the contrast/blacks within photoshop, along with adding a slight yellow tint.
What is your favorite thing about this session? The story. I love the story. From the moments with the make-up artist, enjoying the weather, the laughter and the jokes. The memories that we made where priceless, but nothing is better than that moment when you show your client the image right off the back of the camera & they say, “wow. thats me.”
What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style? I want people to see how beautiful each & every portrait is. I strive to “Redefine Beauty One Portrait At A Time” & portray beauty from the inside out. We are all special, unique, we are called to love, and I find that I love best by showing others how beautiful Jesus is through photography.
What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors? Relax & invest in your client. I think sometimes as photographers we get to caught up in “technique” & forget to look and capture “moments” during our sessions. In all reality, people don’t care what the light looks like or the bokeh in the background, while that adds interested and depth, ultimately senior girls want to feel beautiful, loved & have a frozen moment in time to remember for a life time.
