Shannon Hollman of Shannon Hollman Photography created the feeling of winter with this shoot below even though she says her winter was very mild and did not yield any snow!  I think she did a great job improvising and using other things to create the feeling of winter in these photos!

Even though it is just starting to show signs of spring in my area, other areas are still being hit with winter weather.  And seeing this photo shoot will make those of you who are still getting snow, run out and want to shoot your version of a winter princess.

Check out the session below and read what Shannon had to say about how she put it all together!  Thanks for sharing Shannon!!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Winter and glitter were the main inspirations. i knew i wanted to include crazy hair and make up, lots of glitter and the netting hanging from a tree. once those were determined, the session just kind of unfolded by itself.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
We shot it at small location that had a tree background. i love the look of trees in the winter when they have no leaves….i think it gives such a moody feel.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?

I told her what type of look I was going for and she ended up finding the perfect dress! It had the exact same look and was the exact same color of the netting.  The hair and makeup was done by tina who is an incredible hair stylist!!  The crown and the flower were made by me 🙂

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
I used my canon 5d classic, 85mm and 100mm macro lenses.

What time of day were these taken?
We did this session early afternoon…around 2pm

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I kept the pp very simple. a little contrast boost and sharpening and that was really it.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I love that it was something different for me. it’s so fun to jump out of the box for a bit and do something you might not normally do. i LOVE the make up and savannah (the model) did such an amazing job doing what i had visioned.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
That is fun to do something out of the ordinary!! don’t be afraid to put yourself out there, do something crazy….just have FUN!!!!!

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Make them feel comfortable with who they are. even in a session like this, it is still all about the girl. show them how beautiful they are…..how amazing they are!!
