A fun photo shoot with your senior models is always a good thing to do to not only give them more experience and more photos to show off but to also give you the chance to shoot something fun and different.

In this fun session below, photographer Suzanne of Suzanne Neace Photography said, “This urban grunge shoot was one of the many fun sessions I do with my senior models.”

Check out this session below and read what else Suzanne had to say about it!  Thanks for sharing your work with Seniorologie!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
My inspiration for this shoot was fall back to school shopping with my daughter. Denim, flannel, dark colors, ankle boots, a little bit hipster, a little bit grungy. And all of it fit perfectly with my love of shooting in urban locations.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
I shot this session at two locations – the first was my a warehouse in the city where my fiance’s band practices. The second was near two abandoned water tanks (covered in graffiti) near a local park.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
I created an Urban Grunge Pinterest board to give my 4 seniors some ideas and inspiration.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Nikon D610 camera with my 35mm and 85mm lenses. Natural light with a reflector.

What time of day were these taken?
mid-afternoon 2-4pm

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
My post-processing is simple and natural.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I LOVE working with my senior models – especially on ideas that are all mine. I don’t have to worry about the yearbook requirements or capturing a shot that Grandma will love – these images can be 100% my vision.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
My style is natural, organic, authentic, and urban. It’s not always happy, but it always evokes emotion.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Be real with them. Engage your senior clients in an authentic way and treat them as equals.
