Looking at this photo shoot below makes me wish there were bright colored buildings in my area!  The color is amazing!  Pair that with this senior’s beautiful red hair and it is beautiful!!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
My inspiration for this shoot was Jenny’s gorgeous red hair and natural beauty. I really wanted to put a modern twist on the quintessential girl next door theme without over doing it with elaborate props or distracting backdrops.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
A boutique hôtel in Scottsdale, AZ.  We even scored an extra bonus that wasn’t initially planned when the hotel let us borrow one of their fun beach cruisers!

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
No

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Canon 5D Markii, 85mm 1.2L, and a reflector for some shots

What time of day were these taken?
Between 3-5 in January

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I didn’t want to over edit her skin to keep those gorgeous freckles in tact.  I think it’s really important to not over do it in post processing.  But I definitely love making all those fun, bright colors really POP in my pics:)

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I love the variety of colorful backdrops this unique location offered.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I’d love it if more seniors were adventurous and open to shooting in more non-traditional locations.  Sometimes the most amazing things can happen when you try something new.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Be prepared with a back-up plan! Our original location was not available because of an outdoor concert so I had to completely switch up my game plan last minute without adding any extra stress to my client.  In the end our session turned out even better than I had originally imagined!
