One of the ways to help make your senior model program a success is by hanging out with your models, getting to know them and checkin in on them!  Keri Hamilton of Keri Hamilton Photography in Rockwood, Illinois started her program out by getting together for lunch with her girls.

“We haven’t done our actual group shoot yet, but one of the girls asked if we could get together for lunch to get to know one another,” said Keri.  “Of course that sounded like a wonderful idea, so I told them I’d bring my camera along and we could do a quick shoot just for fun after lunch!”

As you can see from the shots, a lunch to get to know one another quickly turned into a fabulous photo shoot!  Looks like these girls had tons of fun!  Thanks for sharing your work with Seniorologie, Keri!!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
The girls were my inspiration. Since it was a spur of the moment shoot, I told them that they could wear anything they wanted, but to keep in mind we’d be in an urban setting.  It was so fun to see what they each chose to wear!

Where did this photo shoot take place?
The shoot took place on the side of an old brick building in Carbondale IL.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
I used my 5D Mark iii and 35mm L lens along with a reflector.

What time of day were these taken?
3:00 pm

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
These girls are so beautiful that the sooc images were pretty great to begin with.  I always run Portraiture on my senior images, and then really utilize curves and selective color to make the colors really bold.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing was seeing these girls from different schools interact like they’d known each other forever.  It makes me so happy to know that I made the right choices when selecting my model rep team for the upcoming school year.  There was no pressure on me since it was just for fun, and let me tell you, we laughed so hard we almost cried several times.  At one point with each girl, I’d stop shooting and say, ok pick any pose you can think of and do it right now.  The poses they came up with are some of my favorites as well.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I want other girls to see this and think, “wow, that looks like so much fun!”.  With me, having fun is key.  I want to joke and laugh with every girl that comes to me for their session so that they’re comfortable with me, as well as comfortable in front of my camera.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Get them to laugh right at the start and the rest of the session will be a piece of cake!
