Our Fashion Contributor, Madison Luikens of Madison Cary Photography, decided to do something a little different with today’s Fashion Friday post.  She sat down with one of her seniors, Izzie, a 2014 Senior at Trinity High School, and interviewed her to get her opinion on fashion and senior style.  Check it out below.

Help us get to know you! describe yourself in 3 words:   laughter, warmth, love

How would you describe your style?  I definitely like to look cute and pair things together that make a statement or that have bold colors just because I love colors and summer and putting it all together is really fun! I don’t really have a particular style, so depending on the day, I like to look more hippie-ish or more preppy or even dress up in heels and a dress. Whatever looks cute together I love to wear but it also has to be comfortable! I also love fun patterns or florals!

How did you go about selecting your outfits for your session?  I wanted outfits that I felt happy wearing and that weren’t all the same so I sort of went off of what colors I love to be in.

Where do you find fashion inspiration? magazines, musicians, movie stars…Instagram! and just looking around at other’s outfits and thinking about what goes well… I am obsessed with online shopping I can spend hours looking through websites and putting together outfits.

Where is your favorite place to shop? What are your favorite stores?  I love tobi, anthropologie, free people and urban outfitters.

What was your favorite outfit from your session? and why?  I really liked the blue pants and white shirt because I love white and turquoise together. Or the long skirt and tank because I love anything high-waisted and flowy.

Who is your fashion idol/icon?  I love lauren conrad, nina dobrev, or jessica alba’s styles. They always look cute and classy, but sometimes their style can be more casual, like indie/hippie or more preppy. I like how they have mixtures of styles and of course I follow them all on instagram!

What is your “go-to” outfit?  I love crop tops and high-waisted long skirts, that is my favorite! Or ANYTHING with an open back… I think that’s always really pretty.

What is your favorite article of clothing/accessory in your closet right now?  I have a long maxi skirt from free people that is a one size fits all, and you just tie it into a bow on the side at the top… it goes with everything and its so comfortable!

What is your favorite fashion trend right now?  Colored pants, maxi skirts + crop tops

What advice would you give to other seniors as they plan their outfits for their session?  wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable! The worst would be trying to take pictures in an outfit you’re self-conscious or don’t feel comfortable in, so just wear what you love and makes you happy!
