Today we have guest blogger Stephanie Fletcher from Slice of Lime Photography sharing her tips on thrift shopping for a senior session.  Stephanie worked with Emil, owner of Slice of Lime Photography, to give us a great post on how your seniors can find an awesome outfit or two at thrift stores.  Check it out below!!

While Macklemore has done quite the stellar job of making thrift stores cool again, all it takes is a trip to the local mall or flipping through the latest fashion magazine to see that vintage inspired fashion continues to surround us daily.

While some of our senior clients may be able to shell out $178 for that fabulous Vastflora Maxi Skirt at Anthropologie…why not provide them with inspiration to seek out the source of those fashions at your local Sal Val, consignment store, or some killer yard sales? If you are avid thrifters like we are at Slice of Lime Photography, you will know that that our local thrift stores are chock full of hidden gems just waiting to be discovered.

We’ve put together a few inspiration boards that we then brought to life by hitting up our local thrift stores and then pairing our recent finds with other thrifted items already in our own closets.

We are totally digging the late 70s, early 80s floral patterns, that are making a comeback at the moment. As such a wonderful bold, floral skirt is the focus of our inspiration board. These great floral fabrics were not only popular for clothing, but most likely your grandmother’s couch too.

We hit the jackpot with this handmade skirt, top, and accessories, which came to a whopping $19.

Now, don’t write off thrift stores for more trendy pieces! The nautical look continues to be a popular trend, which brings us to our second look.

Just this week, we had no trouble finding pieces to create our own twist on nautical. We found this entire nautical ensemble for a total cost of $23.

Beauty and fashion need not come with a designer label or cost an arm and a leg. As stylist and photographer, we aim to inspire our seniors to explore and experiment with their personal style and seek out beauty in the most unexpected of places as it can lead to some fun, unique looks, and some equally fun senior sessions.

Happy Thrifting and Exploring!
