Sarah Lane, of Sarah Lane Studios, is known for her amazing photos and her awesome rep shoots! She even teaches a workshop with another awesome photographer, Meg Borders, called the Prime Workshop! This workshop details, among many things, how to make a rep program work! And talk about a lot of reps! Whew! I think this is the biggest rep shoot we have ever featured! But as Sarah says below, “Go big or go home!”
I absolutely love all the different concepts/themes for this rep shoot. There is everything from country to camp out and even a circus!! What a fun day they must have had!
Below Sarah, shares her Class of 2013 rep shoot and answers some questions regarding her rep program! Thanks for sharing Sarah!!

How many years have you done rep programs for your senior photography business? When we launched Studio Twelve as it’s own part of Sarah Lane Studios is when I started our Senior Model Program.
What is something new that you are doing this year with your rep program? This is the first year that we had 31 models! Go big or go home! haha!
Do you do individual rep shoots for each girl or a group rep shoot? We have one big senior model shoot once per year.

Was there a theme or concept for your rep shoot? Yes! I SO look forward to this shoot every year because it is a day that I get to photograph all the creative concepts that I have spent the last year dreaming up! This year, we had a Groovy Baby theme that was a kickback to the 60’s/70’s with a modern spin. We also had a Senior Campout where it was all about the kids camping and hanging out. We also had a Gone Country set that took place at a gorgeous estate here in the Napa Valley! I loved the huge red barn and it was big enough to fit all 31 models in front of! And the last theme was my favorite and what I was most excited about shooting this year and that was Circus. We actually broke Circus into three mini sets including: Vintage Carnival, Quirky Circus and Couture Circus. It was crazy fun!
How many reps do you have from how many different schools? This year we had over 160 students apply to be Studio Twelve models and out of those kids we invited 50 in for interviews. From there we narrowed it down to 31 models which represent 9 different schools in the North Bay!
Where did this shoot take place? In the Napa Valley, CA on private estates
What time of day did this shoot take place? The first set started shooting at 10am and we wrapped at 8:30pm.
What equipment was used for this shoot? Canon Mark II, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.2, 35mm 1.4

What props were used and where did they come from? We had props GALORE! We had a circus tent that we handmade at the studio, a kissing booth and elephant boxes that were custom built, old suitcases borrowed from Alice’s Consignment, an old boat, tents, camping equiptment, vintage cowgirl boots from L Salon, a VW bus and a VW Bug, a popcorn machine and tons of little odds and ends!
How did you choose your reps? We are very particular with who we select as models! Studio Twelve chooses students that model integrity, excel in school, are involved with community and school projects, sports, and are well liked for treating others with kindness. After reviewing applications and interviewing, we came out with a great group of students!
