Meet Amii…

Tell me a little about yourself…
I’m a senior photographer in the Dallas area that specializes in photographing senior girls.  My goal is to give them a fun experience by helping them with their wardrobe, getting their hair/makeup done, and getting to know them so that their personality will shine through their images!
How did you get into photography?
Kind of a mix of wanting to learn something new and also wanting to take better pictures of my kids.  I bought my first dSLR without knowing anything but I learned to shoot in manual on day one since I didn’t want this “fancy” camera to be a bulky, expensive point-and-shoot!
Any formal training?
No degree anything but I’ve taken a workshop here and there, read plenty, and practiced extensively through the years.
How long have you been in business?
I’m about to have my 4-year anniversary in a few months.
How long have you been photographing seniors?
Close to 4 years!
What do you love most about photographing seniors?
I think I love the variety…the senior, the personalities, the clothing, the location…it’s ever-changing and I love that I’m able to capture that.
How would you describe your photography style?
Natural, care-free, a bit of “girl next door”.
What’s in your camera bag?
Canon 5dMarkII, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8 and 135L
What’s your favorite lens?
It changes with each session mainly because I tend to shoot with a single lens during 99% of a session.  I will say that the 85 is probably the most dependable and is a great blend between the 50 and 135.
What are you most excited to share with the attendees of The Seniorologie Tour Virginia?
Giving them the confidence to pose their seniors naturally!
Since you have been a speaker at a previous Seniorologie Tour, what is your favorite thing about the tour?
Oh gosh, there is SO much that I love about the Tour!  The friends made, the vast amount of knowledge shared, the gorgeous shoots that are set up…I really couldn’t pick a favorite!
And what advice would you give people thinking about coming to the tour?
If you are wanting to learn and propel your senior business, this is such an incredible workshop!  There is so much to take away from the Seniorologie Tour that your head will be overflowing with ideas and ways to push your business forward!
