Fall colors make an amazing backdrop for senior portraits and Shannon Hollman of Shannon Hollman Photography definitely used these colors to her advantage in these amazing portraits!  I love how rich the colors are without distracting from the beautiful senior in the photos!!
Check out this session by Shannon below and be sure to check out more of her work here.  Thanks for sharing Shannon!!
What was your inspiration for this photo shoot? Chantal is a photographers dream….so I knew as soon as I showed up to our session that I would be inspired by her. Fall was definitely a big inspiration too. The light and colors of fall in Montana are nothing short of magical.
Where did this photo shoot take place? We did this session at two different spots. The first half took place at a local museum. The grounds there are simply beautiful and made for the perfect fall backdrop. The second half of the session took place on a friends private property. I just love the personality and color all of the old trucks give.
Did you collaborate with this senior on the wardrobe for the session? I have photographed Chantal before and I know she has the most incredible style. I let her do her think and she didn’t disappoint. Her style is so fun, fresh and a bit funky….I love it!!!
What camera, lens and equipment was used in this photo shoot? I used my canon 5d classic (LOVE) and the 50mm 1.2 and 85mm 1.2.
What time of day was this shot? We did this session the last couple hours before sunset…when the golden light is at it’s best 🙂
Can you share with us how you made the colors pop in these photos? I think between her clothing and natures amazing colors the colors literally jumps out of the photos. I don’t do much as far as editing. The key to great colors is great light, exposure and color in what your are photographing.
What is your favorite thing about these photos? Chantal! 🙂 I adore her. I love that when I look at these photos they make me smile. I love the beautiful light we found and I love her funky style.
What do you want these photos to convey about this senior and about your photography business? I hope that these photos show the personality of who she truly is. I hope they show how naturally beautiful she is. In my business, I strive to show every single senior how beautiful they are inside and out. I don’t nip, tuck, smooth skin or change them in any way. What you see is honestly how beautiful each and every one of them are.
What is one tip about senior portrait photography that you can share with other photographers? Have fun!!! Let them shine!! Senior photos are something that they have been looking forward to for a long time. Capture them for who they are, show their strengths and LAUGH the whole session 🙂
Tell me a little about you…Where are you from?  How did you get into photography?  What is your favorite thing about photographing seniors? ETC.
I am a wife and mom to 2 amazing boys! I live in northwest Montana and feel so lucky that I have such an amazing place to photograph in. I am strictly a natural light and outdoor photographer.
Like many photographers, I started to become interested in photography when my oldest son was young. I dove in head first and learned as much as I could from anywhere I could learn it. I still try to learn something new every day.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE photographing seniors. Just this year I cut children and families out of my business so that I could focus on seniors. There is something so wonderful about this age. I love spending time with them, I love showing them how amazing they are and I love showing them how others see them….especially when they don’t always see how amazing they are.
