I have been posting a lot about the upcoming photography conference, WPPI, and how it is super important to plan ahead.  If you missed the suggested class schedule, click here.

On that class schedule is, of course, the Seniorologie Class on Thursday, March 14.  However, there are other wonderful senior classes being offered that I would highly recommend.

One of those classes is Beth Forester’s Pricing for Your Senior Business.  I have personally attended Beth’s classes every year at WPPI, and I have always learned a great deal from her.  Beth has a successful Senior Portrait Business in West Virginia, Forester Photo, and she talks a lot about making your business a success even in a small town.

This year Beth’s class is all about pricing!  I personally think pricing is one of the hardest things to figure out when it comes to photography.  I know the theories…price for what you are worth, figure out your cost of goods, how many shoots you want to do and how much you want to make, don’t just do what other photographers do, etc.  But it is still hard to put a number on your work.  It feels so personal because it is just you.  And we all know every other photographer in town is charging way less and giving everything.

Well Beth has figured it out and is sharing what she knows with all of us at WPPI this year during her class Sunday, March 10 at 9 a.m.

Here is a little bit more about Beth’s class…Seniors – Show Me The Money! (I imagine her shouting it in a Cuba Gooding Jr. voice from Jerry MaGuire)

Tired of shooting a marathon session only to be disappointed by a puny order? This course is for you! Let Beth Forester show you how she garners a $2,000 average senior sale in one of the most depressed economic areas in the country, West Virginia. First, she’ll show you how she shoots to sell and what seniors want most in lighting, composition and design. Then, she will be your guide as you learn how to analyze your sessions and use proven business strategies to create a pricing structure that ensures profitable orders. From setting minimums based upon session type to using “desirable” products to guide your clients to targeted price points, Forester will show “real world” strategies to increase your average sale and ensure a lucrative senior campaign. From the initial phone call to the final sale, she will reveal her “everyday” tips and tricks to increasing your average sale and cornering the senior market in your area.
Be sure to put this one in your schedule…who doesn’t want to make more money?
And as always on Topic Tuesday, comment below and tell us what class you will definitely be attending at WPPI.  And if you aren’t going to WPPI, which class you would love to attend if you could.
