Ugh, Taxes!  If you are like me, you cringe at the word.  Really anything to do with taxes and keeping up with money (the accounting side of business), I shutter.  Some people are made for this (i.e. my husband) and some people are not (me!).  I have the hardest time keeping up with things like receipts, expenses, profits, etc.  I am creative and visual, not at all analytical or number-driven.  I like to spend the money but not keep up with it! 🙂

So what does a photographer, a creative business-person, do to help with the very things they are not good at?  Find a solution!  And after reviewing the Beyond the Wanderlust Client Management Workbook Template, I think I have found it.

In the past, I have just used a very simple spreadsheet…just name of expense in one column and dollar amount in the next column.  There was no tracking clients or keeping up with their information.  But with this spreadsheet, there is a place to keep track of everything!

Lots of templates out there have a place to keep up with client information but this spreadsheet keeps that information as well as so much more in one place.  Tabs such as Client Workflow, Business Accounts, Project Profit or Loss for each quarter and Expenses for each quarter allow you to track everything that helps you run a business.

My absolute favorite tab has to be the Business Account Tab.  I have kept all of my info jotted down in a small notebook in my desk drawer…real high-tech, I know!  But this spreadsheet allows you to keep up with all of your social media accounts, business accounts, forums you belong to and even all the educational/inspirational sites you regularly visit (Seniorologie and Beyond the Wanderlust) in one place.
