Now that fall weather is creeping in and the mornings are a bit chilly, all I want to do is curl up in front of the fire with a pumpkin spice latte!  These photos inspire me to just that!
I love the vintage feel of these senior photos from Chantal Andrea of Chantal Andrea Photography. She really captured this seniors love of vintage finds and old-time charm.

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Sheila has an affinity for rare vintage finds (like her adorable 1930’s lace up boots) and has an unmatchable wit and humor for life. I knew I wanted creamy tones to embrace her old time leanings, and sass and spunk in her movements to capture her fun personality.
Where did this shoot take place?
Edmonds, Washington. It’s a cute little beach town home to one of my favorite cafe, Walnut Cafe, where we shot most of the images.
Did you collaborate with this senior on her wardrobe for this session?
She was easy! She brought a huge closet of cute finds in her car, and we went through and picked out the best choices for our scenes and her skin.

What camera, lens and equipment was used during this shoot?
I shot with my canon 5d mark ii and 50mm 1.4, and 35mm 1.4 lenses.
What time of day was this shoot?
We shot an hour or two before sundown. It was freezing, but worth it!
Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing these photos?
I did basic color/contrast adjustments to the image, and then used Jesh De Rox’s Colorshift actions to give the image it’s vintage vibe.
What is your favorite thing about these photos?
I love that Sheila brought her unique style to the shoot and that she’s obsessed with photography as well! I also love that Sheila and I were cracking up before or during almost every frame. That girl’s hilarious.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your photography style?
I hope the images tell a story of a girl who’s witty, creative, stylish but most of all really, freaking fun. I think these images are a great example of the type of shoots I absolutely go nuts for– people who love to have fun, dig fashion, and are excited to document such a distinct moment in life.
What is one tip you could share with other photographers who want to break into the senior market?
Become friends with your clients, and treat them as such. Meeting new people, and developing new friendships is one of the raddest parts of my job. And word of mouth marketing rules!
