Showing off the hottest trends for teens is how this shoot started.  Nicole Pfeiffer of Nicole Pfeiffer Photography started planning this shoot in January and decided to base the models on Alice in Wonderland Characters!  Because it was January, finding the appropriate fashions was a little difficult but Nicole knew exactly what she wanted to feature – neon and nude combos, layered lace, stacked jewelry, high-low skirts, transparent clothing and orange and mint – and she did just that!
Check out Nicole’s work below and read what she had to say about putting this shoot together!  I love concepts and this one is fabulous!  Thanks for sharing Nicole!
What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?  My inspiration for this styled shoot was to provide senior clients with trendy, but affordable fashion ideas for their sessions based on trends coming of the runways. I had also always wanted to infuse Alice in Wonderland into a shoot, so each model played a character as if they were a high school teen.
Tell me a little about each character/model…
Alice: tomboy chic -Alice is the adventurer that wears a dress without flaw. Her fashion is based on a tomboy chic look – girly, but comfortable. Channel with boating shoes!
The Queen of Hearts: the confident trend-setter -The Red Queen is confident and ahead of the crowd. Her fashion is based on what is trendy, simple and powerful. Orange tribal, mixed prints, with a touch of mint! She is not afraid to show those legs.
The White Rabbit: the dancer -The White Rabbit is a mix of emotions and all over the place. Her fashion is based on a dancer who layers almost excessively. She has trendy items, but uses them all at once.
The Mad Hatter: the art geek -The Mad Hatter is a little off, a little cluttered, but not shy. Her fashion is based on the art geek. She loves color and is not afraid to wear it. Excessive in her accessories because she may end up using them in an art project.
The Cheshire Cat: the wild child -The Cheshire Cat is the wild child. Colorful, outgoing, a bit aggressive. Her fashion is based on mixing girly items with a slight biker chick. Matte nails with glossy tips, colored hair, dangerous jewelry. She gets detention a lot. 😉
Where did this shoot take place?  This shoot took place in Ann Arbor, MI in the law-quad. The day was a mix of sun and almost rain so I wanted the option to be outside when sunny and work indoors when overcast. This location has the look of a private school, being on the U of M campus, without being an actual high school.
Did you work with anyone else to style this shoot?  Character creation, wardrobe, hair and makeup concepts, props were stylized by me. I had one assistant helping on the shoot, my sister handled the nail work and I had one makeup artist working under my direction.
What equipment was used for this shoot? I used a Canon 5D, with a split between my 50 1.2L and 35 1.4L. Natural light, no reflector or flash.
What time did this shoot take place?  We started shooting around 5:00pm for about 2 hours indoors and outdoors depending on the light.
What post-processing techniques were used for these images?  There are no post-processing techniques for this shoot. I wanted it to be clean and true to color since we were highlighting the fashion. Just processed through Lightroom.
