When you are a photographer and you have a high school senior daughter, that senior session is extra special.  And to make this senior session even more special, Jolene of Arbor Photographics picked and extra special location to photograph her senior daughter.

“I started my photography business when my oldest daughter was 2 months old and now the day has finally come, she is going to be a senior!” said Jolene.  “I really wanted to do something special for her and St. John in the USVI has become one of our families most favorite places.  I know it would make a wonderful location for her session.”

Check out this beautiful session below and read what else Jolene had to say about it.  Thank you so much for sharing this special session with Seniorologie Jolene!

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I use both Lightroom and Photoshop.  I love the look of film so I used VSCO Lightroom presets (heavily tweaked to my liking) and then finished up in Photoshop for blemish removal and some dodging and burning.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
Well, it’s my daughter!!  Seriously though, this young lady has been through some really tough times over the past 2 years.  She has persevered though and I feel like these images really represent the strong, courageous and confident young woman she’s become.  I’m so very proud of her.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
In the beach portion especially, I feel like the rocks and waves convey a real strength.  This opposed to the soft colors and editing portrays what I think we all would like to be.  Strong but sensitive.  Confident yet humble.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Drench them in compliments.  It will make them feel good and will help take away the insecurities and nervousness they have.  The more confident they feel the better they’ll photograph!
