Incorporating what a senior love is a great way to make a senior session unique. In this session, Gina Lee of Gina Lee Photography wanted to showcase this seniors’ love of books, journalism and photography. The senior even brought along her own camera to snap a few images too!
Check out the session below and be sure to check out more of Gina’s work here. Thanks for sharing Gina!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot? Carissa is off to NYC, so we wanted to capture the big apple, show her sense of style and showcase what she loves.. books…. and wants to go into journalism.. so what a perfect way to capture her in the surroundings that she loves..
Where did this photo shoot take place? in Redlands and in nice yummy light.. 😉
Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot? yes.. we talked about it beforehand and went over clothing, books, and she wanted to showcase her prom dress to remember a special time in her senior year.. the prom..
What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot? 5d, 50 1.4 85.1.8 and good ol’ natural light.. 🙂
What time of day were these taken? most of it was done a couple hours and leading up to our sunset..

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session? i try not to over do it with PS, but I just sharpened up the images and use a little contrast o give it a lil more warmth.. the sun was definetely on our side for this one.. 🙂
What is your favorite thing about this session? i love how natural she feels in front of the camera.. she looks like a model… I also the playfulness of showcasing her prom dress.. fun, simple.. with a touch of glamour.. 🙂
What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style? senior girls want to feel like models.. but at the same time, i dont want them to look to grown up.. so i want my shoots with these seniors to showcase a more simplistic feel but with a touch of glamour..
What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors? have a consult with your girls.. get to know them, what they like, what they are interested in.. what hobbies they love.. and what they are expecting from the session.. you will find out that you will have so much fun not just shooting, but even before one shot is even taken.. i think its about the whole experience.. from beginning to end..

We're busy curating all the best resources, trends, and opportunities for creative women in business - just like you!
