A destination senior portrait session is a great way to give your senior clients something completely different from their friends!  Lindsay of Lindsay Fletcher Photography in Indiana said she was so excited when her senior client mentioned doing her senior photos at the beach!

“I was so excited when she texted about doing her senior session while we were at the beach,” said Lindsay.  “Our families meet there every year!”

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Meredith wanted something different than her friends and I was so excited when she texted about doing her senior session while we were at the beach!

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Panama City Beach, Florida – our families meet there every year!

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
I knew just the place in Panama City Beach to do her photos – Pier Park.  I could have shot there all day and never gotten bored!  There are so many different locations within one! Obviously the beach is gorgeous, but there are also multicolored shops, the pier, cute restaurants…the list goes on and on!

Prior to her shoot we went through the outfits that she brought and selected them together. Isn’t’ that green dress just perfection against her skin and hair?! We chose simple accessories that would compliment her natural style well.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Nikon D600 + 50mm 1.4G

What time of day were these taken?
Her session started at 7:30am.

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
After minimal hand editing, I applied a light matte finish.

How do you incorporate destination sessions into your photography business?

This was my first destination session and I plan to incorporate this into my business slowly.  This session was done during our family vacation in Florida.

How do you advertise them in order to get the bookings?

I plan to advertise on Instagram (@lindsayfletcherphoto) and Facebook (Facebook.com/lindsayfletcherphoto) when I will have these destination sessions available (Chicago in October, anyone?).

What is your favorite thing about this session?
Well, of course, I loved spending time with my cousin and my aunt!  I had never shot a session at the beach before and I love all of the reflective surfaces.  It was nice to not have to worry about a reflector during the beach shots!  I also love the variety on the beach with the lifeguard stand, the pier, and the ocean. Ok, so I really loved everything about this session!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I love this session because I think it really shows off Meredith and her natural style.  I was careful not to over pose her and to make sure that her personality came through.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Have fun!  Believe it or not, I was nervous for this session.  This session meant a little more to me than normal because Meredith is my cousin.  You have to have fun in the process – it takes the nerves away for you and the senior!
