Continuing to build your portfolio, whether by attending a Shoot Out like the ones Seniorologie hosts or creating an opportunity to add images to your portfolio yourself, is a great way to continue to attract your ideal client.

“The concept was to mimic a typical senior session,” said Nadia.  “I wanted to portfolio build with the beautiful Ms. Kira!”

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
The light. I dropped my own daughter off at school every morning at school last year and was tempted by the light bouncing off the buildings. I knew eventually I would have the right person to take to this location, and sure enough Kira was it.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Placentia, California

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
The concept was to mimic a typical senior session. I provided her a guide with instructions on what to bring and she did the rest.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Canon 6D, 70-200mm 2.8F IS

What time of day were these taken?
Afternoon

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I challenge myself to keep these edits to two minutes per image. I was surprised at how much I can do in two minutes and am truly pleased with the results. Can’t say enough about making your own actions to speed up the process.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I love love love the light from the photographer’s standpoint. From the clients standpoint, I love the way Ms. Kira rocked her wardrobe. She looks hot- and let’s face it, what senior doesn’t want to look hot???

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
That simple is beautiful.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Trust your instincts and don’t be afraid to challenge yourself. I had eyeballed this location for over a year before I finally took a chance and I am absolutely in love with the final images.
