Happy holidays!

Those words are music to my ears.  As we take time this holiday season to reflect on things that we are most grateful for, let us also not forget to take time to be thankful for one of my most favorite things in the world, makeup…  Yes, that’s right, give me a wrapped gift, filled with glitter, and I’m yours forever.  The holiday season is the perfect time to kick up your beauty routine, and go for the glam.  One of my most favorite looks for the holiday season is a red lip.  Now, before you click that backspace button, hear me out.  There are so many options for red lips, I am sure there is one out there for you.  Of course, we have all read those beauty magazines, which discuss cool reds (pinks), warm reds (orange), and true reds (neutrals).  But lipsticks come in so many formulas as well.  One of my personal favorites is a bold, opaque red lip.  This is a strong statement on your face, and should be balanced with a soft eye look.  A few of my personal favorites are Laura Mercier Cosmetics, in Red Amour.  With a name like Red Amour, it almost guarantees that you will be kissed under the mistletoe this holiday season!  This is a beautiful, classic, neutral red that will go with all skin tones.  It is a full coverage lipstick, with a cream, hydrating base.  No dry wintery lips here!  For those who love a matte, red lip, the cult favorite Ruby Woo lipstick, by MAC Cosmetics is a perfect choice.  This is a demi-matte formula and a little dryer on the lips, but performs well for the long haul.  For those of us who like a more sheer red lip, I can’t say enough good things about Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters.  These lippies are a cross between lipstick and gloss, and give a good amount of hydration.  That being said, you will have to reapply frequently.  Take Candy Apple (warm) or Red Velvet (neutral) for a spin.  You may apply them as is for more of a sheer application, or use a lip liner such as NYX true red, to intensify the look and make them more long wearing.

The eyes have it for the holidays!  I love a beautiful shimmery eye to complete the festive look.  Stila Cosmetics in Cloud, is a beautiful neutral/silver shadow that looks beautiful on the lid or as a wash all over the eye, with a winged out liner.  Laura Mercier Cosmetics has launched a holiday look with Art Deco Muse Collection, inspired by the art-deco period of the 1920’s in Paris.  This entire collection oozes glam.  Be sure to indulge in Gilded Rosegold, a beautiful, multi-dimensional eye shadow with a luminous pearl finish.  This look can be completed with Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Quick Thick eyeliner in black or MAC gel eyeliner in Blacktrack.  Don’t forget those lovely lashes, and experiment with false lashes by Ardell.  My favorite styles are; 102 demi black, Wispies black, and 120 demi black.

With all of this holiday magic around, let us not forget that taking care of your skin, and keeping it properly hydrated is must for that perfect holiday look.  In the hustle and bustle of the season, be sure to keep up your skincare routine of cleansing and hydrating twice a day, and indulge in a bi-weekly exfoliation, and weekly purifying facemask to keep the holiday blues at bay.  Cetaphil facial wash is great for cleansing the skin without any harsh chemicals.  I am truly in love with Queen Helene’s Mint Julep masque to pull out impurities, combat blemishes and tighten pores!

Remember the greatest beauty asset you have is your smile, so wear it all season long for holiday cheer!  Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
